CVE-2024-38356 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in TinyMCE’s content extraction logic. The flaw occurs when the editor is configured with the noneditable_regexp option: specially crafted HTML attributes can carry malicious script content that is not properly validated before being included during content extraction. As a result, attacker-controlled code can execute in the browser when the affected extraction path processes malicious content. The issue was fixed by changing the handling of content associated with noneditable_regexp so that attribute content is verified to match the configured regular expression before being added.
