CVE-2024-40662 is an Android vulnerability in the Uri.java scheme handling logic caused by improper input validation when processing crafted malformed URI data. The flaw allows creation of a malformed Uri object in a way not correctly handled by the affected code path. This weakness can be leveraged to trigger a local elevation of privilege condition on vulnerable Android devices. The issue does not require user interaction, and the available information indicates exploitation can occur without additional execution privileges beyond those already available to the attacking local context.
