CVE-2024-40988 is an out-of-bounds access condition in the Linux kernel Radeon DRM driver's Kaveri dynamic power-management code in kv_dpm.c. The code accessing sumo_vid_mapping_entry did not validate the relevant index or mapping bounds, producing a UBSAN warning. The upstream fix adds the missing bounds check before the mapping entry is accessed.
