CVE-2024-41013 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Linux kernel XFS directory-data-block traversal. Bounds validation checks an entry's starting offset without ensuring that sufficient bytes remain for the fixed members of xfs_dir2_data_unused or xfs_dir2_data_entry. A crafted filesystem image can shorten the final unused entry by one byte, leaving a one-byte remainder that subsequent traversal interprets as another entry. Accessing that entry's fixed members can read beyond the valid memory region.

An out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Linux kernel XFS directory processing caused by insufficient checks on the size and alignment of directory entries. A crafted filesystem image can cause traversal beyond valid memory. The fix adds bounds and alignment checks. The reference assigns a CVSS v3 base score of 7.1 (High) and reports no known exploits.
An out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Linux kernel XFS directory parsing. A crafted filesystem image can leave insufficient space for an entry, causing traversal to read beyond valid memory. The fix validates remaining entry space and alignment before accessing entry fields. The reference assigns CVSS v3 severity High (7.1), with local access, low privileges, and potential high confidentiality and availability impacts.
