CVE-2024-41110 is a regression vulnerability in Docker Engine and Moby that allows authorization bypass when AuthZ authorization plugins are used to make access-control decisions based on HTTP request or response bodies. By sending a specially crafted Engine API request, including a case where the request declares a Content-Length of 0 while still supplying a body, an API client can cause the Docker daemon to forward the request or response to the authorization plugin without the body. Under those conditions, the plugin may evaluate incomplete data and approve an operation it would otherwise deny. The issue is a recurrence of an earlier flaw fixed in Docker Engine v18.09.1 in January 2019, but that fix was not carried forward into later major versions, resulting in vulnerable releases across subsequent branches. The vulnerability affects deployments that rely on AuthZ plugins which inspect message bodies for policy enforcement; deployments not using such plugins are not affected.
