CVE-2024-41869 is a critical use-after-free vulnerability in Adobe Acrobat Reader affecting versions 24.002.21005, 24.001.30159, 20.005.30655, 24.003.20054, and earlier. The flaw arises from improper handling of deallocated memory, allowing the application to access freed objects while processing a malicious file. Successful exploitation can corrupt memory and redirect execution flow, resulting in arbitrary code execution in the security context of the current user. Adobe indicated that a proof of concept was known that could crash Acrobat and Reader, and reporting also associated the issue with a workable exploit being available.
