CVE-2024-44082 is an information-disclosure vulnerability in OpenStack Ironic and ironic-python-agent image-processing paths. Vulnerable code invokes qemu-img on untrusted images without explicitly specifying the expected image format. qemu-img consequently probes the supplied content, loads applicable image drivers, and may process image formats with inherently unsafe features. An authenticated user able to provide a specially crafted image can induce unintended qemu-img behavior and potentially access sensitive data. Affected versions are Ironic before 21.4.3; 22.0.0 through before 23.0.2; 23.1.0 through before 24.1.2; and 25.0.0 through before 26.0.1. Affected ironic-python-agent versions are before 9.4.2; 9.5.0 through before 9.7.1; 9.8.0 through before 9.11.1; and 9.12.0 through before 9.13.1.
