CVE-2024-47051 is a critical authenticated vulnerability in Mautic affecting versions before 5.2.3. The flaw is present in the asset upload functionality, where insufficient enforcement of allowed file extensions enables a user with authenticated access to bypass upload restrictions and place executable server-side files in a web-accessible location. This can allow arbitrary PHP code to be written within the web directory and subsequently executed by the server. The advisory also associates the issue with a path traversal condition in upload validation that can be abused during file deletion operations, allowing arbitrary file deletion on the host through improper handling of path components.
