CVE-2024-49515 is an untrusted search path vulnerability in Adobe Substance 3D Painter 10.1.0 and earlier. The application may use an insufficiently validated search path when locating critical resources such as executable programs or other trusted components. An attacker can influence that search path so the application resolves and executes a malicious resource instead of the intended trusted one. In the reported attack scenario, exploitation requires user interaction, specifically convincing a victim to open a malicious file in the vulnerable application. Successful exploitation can result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the user running Substance 3D Painter.
