CVE-2024-50076 is an information disclosure vulnerability in the Linux kernel virtual terminal (vt) subsystem. The flaw is in con_font_get(), where memory returned through font.data may not be fully initialized depending on the implementation of vc->vc_sw->con_font_get. If the backing buffer contains uninitialized bytes, those bytes can be exposed to a caller, resulting in a kernel information leak. The fix initializes the allocated memory region to zero before use, preventing disclosure of residual kernel memory contents without materially affecting performance.
