CVE-2024-54456 is a potential stack buffer overflow in the Linux kernel NFS subsystem, in nfs_sysfs_link_rpc_client(). The function uses a fixed 64-byte name buffer while handling an RPC client program name whose length is not bounded. Unsafe string copying and direct strcat() concatenation can write beyond the destination buffer. The upstream fix replaces these operations with bounded strscpy() and strncat() calls.
