CVE-2024-54677 is an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability in the examples web application distributed with Apache Tomcat. The flaw is caused by the absence of limits on the total size of uploaded files, allowing excessive upload handling to consume server resources. The issue affects Apache Tomcat 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.1, 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.33, and 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.97. Apache Tomcat 8.5.0 through 8.5.100, which was end-of-life when the CVE was assigned, is also known to be affected. The vulnerable condition is in the bundled sample application rather than the core Tomcat server components.
