CVE-2024-57726 is a critical missing authorization vulnerability in SimpleHelp remote support software affecting version 5.5.7 and earlier, with broader patch guidance indicating affected branches prior to 5.5.8, 5.4.10, and 5.3.9. The flaw stems from missing backend authorization checks in certain administrative or API key management functions. A low-privileged technician account can invoke restricted functionality and create API keys with excessive permissions, including server administrator-level rights. By abusing these improperly authorized backend operations, an attacker can bypass intended role-based access controls and elevate from a standard technician role to full SimpleHelp server administrator privileges.
