CVE-2024-57901 is a flaw in the Linux kernel AF_PACKET subsystem's vlan_get_protocol_dgram() function. The function mishandles VLAN datagram protocol processing when MSG_PEEK is used and modifies a shared socket buffer. Repeated or concurrent use of the socket buffer can drive skb_push() into an invalid buffer state, triggering skb_under_panic and a kernel BUG. The fix reworks vlan_get_protocol_dgram() to avoid modifying the skb and marks its skb argument const.
