CVE-2024-57902 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's af_packet implementation, specifically in the vlan_get_tci() function. The function did not properly handle the MSG_PEEK case, which could result in a crash due to invalid memory access when multiple CPUs access the same sk_buff (skb) structure. This was discovered by syzbot and is triggered by a race condition leading to a kernel panic (skb_under_panic). The issue was resolved by refactoring vlan_get_tci() to avoid modifying the skb and making the skb argument const.
