CVE-2024-57968 is a critical vulnerability in Advantive VeraCore before version 2024.4.2.1 affecting the /VeraCore/OMS/upload.aspx file upload component. The flaw stems from insufficient validation of user-supplied input during file upload operations, allowing a remote authenticated attacker to perform path traversal and upload files into unintended directories, including locations that may be web-accessible to other users. This effectively turns the upload feature into an arbitrary file placement primitive within the application’s reachable filesystem scope. In observed exploitation, the vulnerability has been used to place server-side webshells on vulnerable VeraCore systems, enabling persistent unauthorized access.
