CVE-2024-5846 is a use-after-free vulnerability in PDFium, the PDF rendering library used by Chromium and Google Chrome. In Google Chrome versions prior to 126.0.6478.54, processing a crafted PDF file can trigger a stale pointer dereference and resulting heap corruption in PDFium. The flaw is remotely reachable through attacker-supplied PDF content and affects environments that render or preview PDFs using the vulnerable PDFium codebase.
