CVE-2024-7344 is a Secure Boot bypass vulnerability in the Howyar UEFI Application Reloader, in both 32-bit and 64-bit variants, distributed with multiple system recovery products. The vulnerable application is signed by a trusted Microsoft UEFI certificate but uses a custom PE loader rather than the standard UEFI image-loading path. As a result, it loads and executes a UEFI binary from a hard-coded path without properly enforcing signature verification, allowing unsigned code to run in the UEFI environment despite Secure Boot being enabled. Because the vulnerable binary is itself trusted by platform firmware, an attacker can abuse it in a bring-your-own-vulnerable-bootloader scenario to subvert the boot chain before the operating system starts.
