CVE-2024-8640 is a high-severity command injection vulnerability in GitLab Enterprise Edition affecting all versions from 16.11 before 17.1.7, from 17.2 before 17.2.5, and from 17.3 before 17.3.2. The flaw is caused by incomplete input filtering in the Product Analytics funnels YAML configuration. An attacker with the ability to influence this YAML configuration can inject commands that are passed to a connected Cube server. The issue affects the Product Analytics integration path rather than GitLab CE, and arises from insufficient validation or sanitization of attacker-controlled input before it is used in a command-processing context on the connected analytics component.
