CVE-2024-9157 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the Synaptics Audio Effects component, specifically affecting the Synaptics service binaries CxUIUSvc64.exe and CxUIUSvc32.exe. The flaw allows a local authorized attacker to cause a privileged process to load an attacker-controlled DLL. This is a DLL-loading weakness in a high-privilege service context, enabling code controlled by the attacker to execute within that privileged process. The issue was assigned for an end-of-life product so that organizations still running the affected software are aware that it should be removed.
