CVE-2025-12970 is a stack-based buffer overflow in Fluent Bit's in_docker input plugin. The vulnerable condition is in the extract_name function, which copies a Docker container name into a fixed-size stack buffer (reported as 256 bytes) without validating the input length. An attacker who can create containers or otherwise control container names can supply an excessively long name, causing a stack buffer overflow in the Fluent Bit agent process. The issue affects deployments that use the in_docker plugin and may be reachable in containerized and cloud environments where Fluent Bit collects Docker metadata or metrics from local containers.
