CVE-2025-1316 is a critical operating system command injection vulnerability affecting all versions of the end-of-life Edimax IC-7100 IP camera. The flaw is caused by improper neutralization of special elements in requests handled by the device, specifically in the administrative CGI interface at /camera-cgi/admin/param.cgi. A remote authenticated attacker can send specially crafted requests that inject operating system commands, resulting in remote code execution on the device. The vulnerability has been reported as actively exploited in the wild and has been associated with compromise of internet-exposed cameras for botnet enrollment, including Mirai-derived activity.
