CVE-2025-15628 is a cryptographic trust vulnerability in TP-Link Omada hardware and software controllers, and potentially related product lines that rely on the same trust model. Version 2 of the Omada protocol uses an embedded TLS server certificate and corresponding private key that are shared across deployments rather than being unique per installation or device. Omada devices use these embedded certificates to establish trust between controllers and managed devices. Because the certificate material is hard-coded and reused, compromise of that material undermines the protocol’s authentication model and chain of trust. An attacker who obtains the embedded certificate and private key can impersonate a trusted controller or managed device and position themselves to intercept communications that would otherwise be treated as authenticated.
