CVE-2025-20393 is a critical remote command execution vulnerability in Cisco AsyncOS Software affecting Cisco Secure Email Gateway and Cisco Secure Email and Web Manager. The flaw resides in the Spam Quarantine feature and is caused by insufficient validation of HTTP requests. Cisco states that a remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit the issue by sending a crafted HTTP request to an affected appliance. Additional technical reporting indicates the vulnerable code path is in the End User Quarantine RPC handling, where improper validation of length fields can enable authentication bypass and unsafe deserialization, ultimately resulting in arbitrary command execution. Successful exploitation results in execution of attacker-controlled system commands on the underlying operating system with root privileges.
