CVE-2025-21376 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability in the Windows Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) component. Available reporting describes the issue as a buffer overflow reachable through specially crafted LDAP calls sent by a remote, unauthenticated attacker. Exploitation appears to depend on winning a race condition in the LDAP service by manipulating the timing of interleaved LDAP requests so that multiple worker threads access a shared request context concurrently. Reported technical effects include an integer underflow followed by a heap overflow, which can potentially be leveraged to corrupt adjacent memory and redirect execution flow. The vulnerability has also been characterized as wormable because successful compromise of one system could enable follow-on attacks against other reachable systems.
