CVE-2025-23142 is a use-after-free read in the Linux kernel SCTP send path. SCTP can reuse an association transport selected by the socket endpoint and message destination, and assigns that transport to outbound message chunks. A race occurs if another thread removes the selected transport, including by unbinding an address through SCTP socket options, after chunk setup but before transmission. The race window exists when a sender waits for send-buffer capacity and temporarily releases the socket lock. When the association output queue is subsequently flushed, transport selection can dereference freed transport data. The fix restores a transport dead-state flag, retains a transport reference while checking the state after the socket lock is reacquired, and returns EAGAIN when deletion is detected so userspace can retry the send.
