CVE-2025-23279 is a race condition / time-of-check time-of-use (TOCTOU) vulnerability in the NVIDIA .run Installer for Linux and Solaris. The flaw occurs because the self-extracting installer does not properly synchronize access to temporary files and directories used during privileged installation operations. During driver installation or upgrade, the installer extracts files, may compile kernel modules, and moves content into system directories with elevated privileges. A local attacker who can predict or monitor creation of these temporary files can replace, manipulate, or redirect them, including via malicious content or symlinks, before the installer processes them as root. This can cause the installer to operate on attacker-controlled files during privileged execution.
