CVE-2025-24486 is an improper input validation vulnerability in the Linux kernel-mode i40e driver for some Intel 700 Series Ethernet controllers. Intel states that affected versions are all i40e driver releases prior to 2.28.5. The flaw allows a local authenticated user to supply specially crafted input to the driver, where insufficient validation of the format, size, or content of certain network-related data or configuration parameters can lead to unintended kernel behavior. Supporting content indicates exploitation may trigger memory corruption or unintended control flow within the kernel driver, creating a path to privilege escalation on affected Linux systems. Affected deployments include Linux systems using Intel 700 Series adapters such as I710, X710, XL710, XXV710, V710, and X722.
