CVE-2025-24991 is an information disclosure vulnerability in the Windows NTFS file system driver. The flaw is an out-of-bounds read condition in NTFS that can be triggered when the operating system processes a specially crafted virtual hard disk image. Available technical analysis associates the vulnerable code path with NTFS restart-table parsing, specifically the ReadRestartTable() function in ntfs.sys. By causing NTFS to read memory beyond the intended bounds of a structure or buffer, an attacker can disclose portions of heap memory to a local context. Microsoft classified the issue as allowing an authorized attacker to disclose information locally, and exploitation has been reported in the wild.
