CVE-2025-25193 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Netty affecting versions up to and including 4.1.118.Final. On Windows, Netty can unsafely read an environment-related file path that does not exist under normal conditions. If an attacker is able to create a specially crafted large file at the location Netty attempts to access, the application can consume excessive resources and crash. The issue is related to an earlier flaw tracked as CVE-2024-47535; the prior fix was incomplete because null bytes were not counted toward the input limit, allowing the size restriction to be bypassed.
