CVE-2025-25249 is a heap-based buffer overflow in the cw_acd daemon that processes CAPWAP control traffic in Fortinet FortiOS, FortiSwitchManager, and affected FortiSASE deployments. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send specially crafted CAPWAP packets or requests to execute arbitrary code or commands. Affected releases include FortiOS 7.6.0–7.6.3, 7.4.0–7.4.8, 7.2.0–7.2.11, 7.0.0–7.0.17, and all 6.4 releases, plus FortiSwitchManager 7.2.0–7.2.6 and 7.0.0–7.0.5.

An unauthenticated heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability in FortiOS and FortiSwitchManager that can enable command execution via crafted requests. It was reportedly exploited in real-world operations after patches were released.
Fortinet FortiOS and FortiSwitchManager heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability. Fortinet issued security updates for affected releases.
Pre-authentication heap-based buffer overflow in the Fortinet cw_acd CAPWAP-processing daemon. Crafted CAPWAP traffic can corrupt heap memory, hijack control flow, and yield high-privilege remote code execution on affected appliances.
A critical heap-based buffer overflow (CWE-122/CWE-787) in Fortinet FortiOS, FortiSwitchManager, and FortiSASE that can allow attackers to execute unauthorized code or commands via specially crafted packets. CISA confirmed active exploitation and added it to the KEV catalog on September 9, 2026.
