CVE-2025-30220 is a high-severity XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability affecting GeoServer, GeoTools, and GeoNetwork in code paths that use GeoTools XSD schema processing. The flaw is in the gt-xsd-core Schemas handling of XML schema data through the Eclipse XSD library, where external entity resolution controls are not correctly enforced. Specifically, the Schemas class does not use the EntityResolver supplied by the ParserHandler, and related GeoServer WFS processing can therefore parse attacker-controlled XML documents that reference external schemas or entities. In GeoServer, this affects Web Feature Service (WFS) XML processing and bypasses intended entity resolution restrictions, including allowlist-based controls. Successful exploitation allows malicious XML payloads containing external entities or DTD references to trigger external resource resolution during schema parsing.
