CVE-2025-37778 is a dangling-pointer vulnerability in the Linux kernel ksmbd SMB server's Kerberos authentication path. The krb_authenticate function frees the session user object but does not clear sess->user. It subsequently invokes ksmbd_krb5_authenticate to reinitialize that object; however, that function can return without reinitializing it. The SMB2 session-setup path can then dereference sess->user after its memory has been freed.
