CVE-2025-37822 is a Linux kernel vulnerability in the RISC-V uprobes implementation. The execute-out-of-line (XOL) buffer, which is used to single-step replaced instruction(s) for uprobes, was constructed without issuing the required fence.i instruction afterward. On RISC-V, fence.i is needed to synchronize the instruction stream after code modification by flushing or synchronizing the instruction cache view. Without it, the CPU may execute stale or corrupted instructions from the XOL buffer instead of the newly written contents. The issue was observed in practice while running BPF selftests such as test_progs: uprobe_autoattach and attach_probe on Spacemit K1/X60 systems, where uprobe-related tests failed intermittently.
