CVE-2025-38085 is a race condition in the Linux kernel hugetlb memory-management subsystem. The huge_pmd_unshare() path can drop a reference to a page table formerly shared across processes. That page table can then be repurposed as a normal page table in a different process and populated with unrelated virtual memory areas while a concurrent GUP-fast page-table walk is still in progress. GUP-fast can consequently traverse page tables belonging to another process. The upstream fix synchronizes page-table removal using an explicit broadcast IPI through tlb_remove_table_sync_one(), consistent with the approach used for khugepaged transparent-huge-page collapse.
