CVE-2025-38154 is a use-after-free race in the Linux kernel BPF sockmap send path. A backlog worker can invoke the socket send operation through sk_socket while a concurrent close operation releases and frees that socket object. The backlog path neither locks nor holds a reference to sk_socket, allowing dereference of a freed socket operations structure. The condition affects sockmap use with TCP, UDP, UNIX-domain, and VSOCK sockets. The fix retains a psock reference while backlog work executes, allowing socket-close handling to synchronize with in-flight work and cancel pending work safely.
