The associated Linux kernel i2c/designware defect involved incomplete transfer-context initialization in the AMD-specific amd_i2c_dw_xfer_quirk() path. The routine initialized the msgs and msgs_num fields but did not initialize msg_write_idx before invoking i2c_dw_xfer_init(). Subsequent use of the uninitialized index could access the msgs array out of bounds. The reported upstream correction initializes msg_write_idx before transfer initialization.
