A double-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's platform/x86/amd amd-pmf component affects the smart PC setup failure path. If smart PC initialization fails, an internal buffer associated with the device context is freed during error handling but the pointer is not cleared. When the amd-pmf driver is later unloaded, the same buffer is freed again in the removal routine, resulting in a double free. The issue was addressed by converting the relevant allocations to device-managed allocations, eliminating the inconsistent lifetime handling that allowed the buffer to be released twice.
