CVE-2025-38500 is a use-after-free and double-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel XFRM interface implementation, introduced in Linux 6.1. The xfrmi_changelink() function fails to reject changes to collect_md interfaces because its validation depends on xfrmi_locate(), which does not locate those interfaces. A change operation can consequently insert the special interface into the regular XFRM interface hash while it remains referenced by collect_md_xfrmi. This duplicate tracking can cause the interface to be freed twice during network-namespace teardown, triggering a kernel BUG and denial of service.
