CVE-2025-38684 is a NULL-pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel Enhanced Transmission Selection (ETS) traffic-control scheduler. During ETS qdisc reconfiguration, the change handler updated the configured DWRR-band count before purging unused DWRR classes. Cleanup routines require the prior band and strict-band configuration to locate and classify those classes; using the new configuration creates inconsistent state and can cause a NULL-pointer dereference during queue-length notification processing. The upstream fix purges idle DWRR queues before committing the new band-count configuration.
