CVE-2025-39694 is a flaw in the Linux kernel s390 SCLP subsystem. Tracing code invoked by the SCLP interrupt handler translated the physical SCCB address to a virtual address before determining whether the SCCB address was NULL. When the kernel identity mapping begins at a nonzero address, translation of physical address zero produces a nonzero virtual address, causing the subsequent NULL check to fail. The handler can then incorrectly access the first page of the identity mapping. The upstream fix handles the NULL SCCB case before physical-to-virtual address translation.
