CVE-2025-39864 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel cfg80211 Wi-Fi subsystem's cmp_bss() function. During hidden-SSID BSS tracking, cfg80211_update_known_bss() can free beacon-frame elements that remain shared through the corresponding hidden_beacon_bss pointer. Subsequent access to those elements causes a use-after-free. The fix preserves shared beacon-frame elements rather than freeing them prematurely.

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's cfg80211 Wi-Fi subsystem involving cmp_bss() and shared beacon-frame elements. The fix changes cfg80211_update_known_bss() to free the last beacon-frame elements only when they are not shared through the hidden_beacon_bss pointer. The reference assigns CVSS v3 severity High, with a score of 7.8 and a local attack vector requiring low privileges.
