CVE-2025-40597 is a heap-based buffer overflow in the SonicWall SMA 100 Series web interface. The flaw resides in the mod_httprp.so HTTP-request handling component and results from incorrect use of a safer sprintf variant while processing a malicious Host header. The condition can corrupt adjacent heap memory, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause a denial of service and potentially achieve code execution. Reliable remote code execution may be difficult because of the server's dynamic runtime behavior.
