CVE-2025-40598 is a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in the web management interface of SonicWall SMA100 Series appliances, including SMA 210, 410, and 500v. The flaw allows untrusted input supplied in a crafted web request to be reflected back into a server-generated page without adequate sanitization or output encoding, enabling attacker-controlled JavaScript to execute in a victim’s browser. The issue is remotely reachable and does not require authentication by the attacker. Research associated with the vulnerability also noted that basic XSS payloads were effective against the appliance and that the Web Application Firewall on management interfaces appeared not to provide protection in the tested configuration. Affected versions include firmware 10.2.1.15 and earlier.
