CVE-2025-40945 is an untrusted search path vulnerability in the Siemens IAM Client SDK that affects multiple Siemens engineering and industrial software products, including COMOS, Designcenter NX, Simcenter, Solid Edge, Teamcenter Visualization, and Tecnomatix offerings in vulnerable versions. The flaw arises from unsafe resolution of executable or library search paths, allowing the software to load resources from an unintended location under attacker influence. An authenticated user with local access may be able to leverage this behavior to execute code in a more privileged security context and thereby escalate privileges. The issue is classified as CWE-426 and is described as not remotely exploitable.
