CVE-2025-41736 is a high-severity path traversal vulnerability affecting METZ CONNECT EWIO2 devices, including EWIO2-M, EWIO2-M-BM, and EWIO2-BM, running firmware versions earlier than 2.2.0. The flaw exists in a PHP-based file upload mechanism where the target filename is not properly constrained, allowing a low-privileged remote attacker to manipulate the upload path via path traversal. By supplying a crafted filename, the attacker can upload a new Python script to an unintended location or overwrite an existing Python script on the device. Because the device executes Python scripts in its operational environment, this can be leveraged to achieve remote code execution on the affected system.
