When the component processes a maliciously crafted media file, insufficient bounds checking can result in memory being accessed outside the intended buffer boundaries. Apple states the issue was addressed through improved bounds checking. Successful triggering may cause unexpected application termination or process memory corruption. The vulnerability affects Apple platforms prior to the fixes released in iOS 18.7 and iPadOS 18.7, iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, and watchOS 26.
