CVE-2025-48828 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability in the vBulletin template processing engine. The flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker to supply specially crafted template code containing Template Conditionals and execute arbitrary PHP code. The issue can be abused through alternative PHP function invocation syntax, such as calling functions with quoted callable expressions, to bypass template-engine security checks intended to block unsafe function use. Public reporting places the flaw in affected self-hosted vBulletin branches 5.0.0 through 5.7.5 and 6.0.0 through 6.0.3, with exploitation activity reported in 2025. The vulnerability has also been described as part of an exploit chain with CVE-2025-48827, where protected API method invocation can be used to reach template functionality and achieve full unauthenticated code execution.
