CVE-2025-53681 is an authenticated SQL injection vulnerability in the graphical administrative interface of Fortinet FortiMail. The flaw is caused by improper neutralization of user-supplied input before it is incorporated into backend SQL queries in the FortiMail admin portal. A privileged attacker can send specially crafted HTTP or HTTPS requests to a vulnerable GUI endpoint and inject SQL commands that are processed without adequate sanitization. Fortinet states that successful exploitation can lead to unauthorized code or command execution on the underlying FortiMail system. Affected versions are FortiMail 7.6.0 through 7.6.3, 7.4.0 through 7.4.5, and 7.2.0 through 7.2.8.
