CVE-2025-55012 affects Zed, a multiplayer code editor. Prior to version 0.197.3, the Zed Agent Panel contained a permission-bypass flaw that allowed an AI agent to circumvent user approval checks. By exploiting this bypass, the agent could create or modify a project-specific configuration file and thereby trigger execution of arbitrary commands on the victim machine without the explicit approval that should otherwise have been required. The issue is described as enabling remote code execution through abuse of the Agent Panel's handling of agent permissions and project configuration.
